Project context

Loyola High School sought to modernize its main gymnasium to provide a surface suitable for competitive athletics, daily physical education, and community events. The project required a flooring solution combining athletic performance, durability, and long-term stability.

With approximately 13,000 square feet, the gym represents a central athletic space within the school, requiring a surface capable of supporting intensive use while maintaining consistent playing quality.

Challenge and objectives

Advantage Sport was tasked with installing a wood sports flooring system capable of supporting school competition, multisport activities, and event use.

Primary objectives included:

• delivering shock absorption suitable for competitive play
• ensuring superior stability compared to traditional hardwood
• supporting heavy and rolling loads
• integrating durable multisport game lines
• reducing maintenance while preserving the natural wood appearance
  

The challenge was to combine the natural feel of wood with the technical performance expected from a modern sports flooring system.

Technical solution

Advantage Sport installed a Boen Boflex-Stadium engineered wood sports flooring system across approximately 13,000 square feet.

The system provides Class 5 shock absorption according to ASTM F2772, improving athletic comfort and reducing joint stress during sports activities.

Boflex incorporates an integrated resilient layer that delivers progressive shock absorption while maintaining the firmness required for competitive performance. Its engineered construction offers excellent dimensional stability, minimizing expansion and contraction caused by humidity fluctuations.

The factory-applied finish enhances durability and simplifies long-term maintenance. The system’s ability to support heavy and rolling loads also ensures versatility for school events and multipurpose use.
