Carville Community Centre

Vaughan, Ontario

Project context

The gymnasium at Carville Community Centre in Vaughan was designed as a modern athletic space focused on performance, versatility, and user experience. The facility combines a hardwood sports court with a continuous indoor running track, creating a functional and visually distinctive environment for both sports and recreational activities.

Flooded with natural light and defined by clean architectural lines, the space offers a welcoming environment capable of supporting intensive daily use by a diverse range of users.

Challenge and objectives

Advantage Sport was tasked with installing a durable and visually appealing peripheral surface that complements the main court while meeting the demands of an active community facility.

Primary objectives

  • Create a safe and comfortable indoor running track
  • Ensure visual continuity surrounding the court
  • Provide a durable solution suited to heavy daily use
  • Maintain a modern and attractive environment
  • Support a variety of sports and recreational activities

The challenge was to integrate a high-performance surface without compromising the overall aesthetics of the gymnasium.

Technical solution

Advantage Sport installed a PolyTurf Plus Pad and Pour (9+2) system across approximately 4,150 square feet, forming a three-lane indoor track surrounding the sports court. The poured-in-place surface creates a seamless finish known for durability, safety, and low maintenance.

The use of two grey tones enhances track definition while maintaining a cohesive and contemporary appearance within the facility. This system provides comfort for running, walking, and light training activities while resisting wear and load demands typical of high-traffic community environments.

The project delivered a balanced athletic space combining performance, safety, and visual impact.

The benefits include:

  • Durable and secure indoor running track
  • Elegant visual continuity around the court
  • Comfortable surface for walking and running activities
