Project context

As part of the renovation of its double gymnasium, Cégep André-Laurendeau aimed to modernize its athletic facilities by installing a sports surface that is high-performing, durable, and visually distinctive.

The objective was to revitalize a central space used for sports and educational activities while improving comfort and extending the lifespan of the flooring.

The project covered approximately 12,000 square feet, requiring a technical approach capable of meeting the demands of a high-use collegiate environment.

Objectives and challenge

Advantage Sport was mandated to design a sports flooring solution combining athletic performance, durability, and effective management of existing building constraints.

• Resolve moisture issues identified beneath the existing floor
• Provide a comfortable multisport surface

The challenge was to integrate a technical solution that protects the new flooring from moisture while maintaining high athletic performance.

Technical solution

Advantage Sport installed an Omnisports Active+ system combined with Tarkolay across approximately 12,000 square feet.

The combination of Light Maple and Golden Maple tones created a dynamic and functional design. A central Golden Maple inlay matching the exact dimensions of the main volleyball court clearly defines the playing area while adding a distinctive visual signature.

During removal of the existing flooring, signs of moisture were discovered. To prevent recurrence, the Tarkolay system was installed as a protective underlayment, ensuring effective moisture management and long-term durability of the new sports surface.
