Zancor Centre (King City Township – Wide Recreation Centre)

King City, Ontario

Project context

The new municipal recreation facility in King City, now known as the Zancor Centre, represents a major investment aimed at supporting the community’s growth and evolving recreational needs.

This modern 124,000-square-foot complex was developed to replace aging facilities and centralize sports and community activities within a multifunctional environment.

The indoor sports complex was designed to provide a versatile space that promotes physical activity, fitness, and community events while ensuring durability and safety for intensive daily use.

Objectives and challenges

Advantage Sport was tasked with installing a sports surface suitable for a high-traffic municipal environment supporting multiple activities.

Primary objectives

  • provide a durable surface for intensive community use
  • integrate a multisport court and an indoor walking track
  • ensure comfort and safety for a diverse user base
  • create visual continuity with adjacent sports installations
  • deliver a low-maintenance flooring solution

The challenge was to design a versatile surface capable of supporting sports, recreation, and fitness activities simultaneously.

Technical solution

Advantage Sport installed a PolyTurf Plus Pad and Pour (9+2) system across approximately 11,600 square feet, incorporating a multisport court and a three-lane indoor walking track.

This poured-in-place system creates a seamless surface known for wear resistance, safety, and minimal maintenance requirements in municipal environments.

The green colour was selected to complement the adjacent turf area, creating a cohesive visual transition and a modern aesthetic throughout the indoor sports complex.

The project delivered a welcoming and versatile athletic space suited to a wide range of users.

Main benefits

  • durable multisport surface designed for intensive use
  • indoor walking track promoting accessibility and physical activity
